Jubaea Chilensis, has a winter hardness of up to about -16 °C. That's the reason why it's the most frost hardy feather palm aloud literature. It tolerates also a bit of humidity during winter. For these reasons, it can be planted out in the mildest regions of Central Europe. During the first winters it has to be protected, because it needs years to root deep enough and to develop it's full winter hardness. It grows up quite slowly, therefore it is a relative expensive palm. In case of Jubaea chilensis, we recommend clearly a personal consultation concerning possibilities at your site and needed soil.
At the site of Pannonia Palmen KG, in 2009 a Jubea Chilensis was planted out. Here picutres of this palm until now can be seen.
