The big Butia-species (Butia Capitata, Butia Eriospatha, Butia Yatay) are beside Jubaea chilensis among the most frost-hardy feather-palms. Butia Capitata is slighty behind Butia Eriospatha in frost-hardness. It's frost tolerance is in the range of about -10 to -12 °C. Consider: much soil-wetness means less frost-hardness. After an adequate acclimatisation time tasty fruits can be harvested from Butia Capitata. Sicne spring 2024 at the site of Pannonia Palmen KG a planted Butia Capitata can be seen.
